Amazon SIPP Program Explained | Save up to 10% on FBA Fulfillment Fees | Amazon Seller Central

Amazon Ship in Product Packaging (SIPP): How to Lower Fulfillment Fees and Improve Branding

Amazon sellers looking to reduce fulfillment fees while enhancing their branding might find the Ship in Product Packaging (SIPP) program to be a game-changer. Previously known as Ships in Own Container (SIOC), this program allows sellers to ship products in their own packaging without requiring additional Amazon-branded boxes or materials. Here’s how it works and why it might be beneficial for your business.

Why Consider SIPP?

SIPP is ideal for sellers whose products can be shipped in their original packaging without additional protective materials. The program offers several benefits:

  1. Lower Fulfillment Fees: Since Amazon doesn’t need to repackage products, fulfillment costs are reduced—a direct cost-saving advantage for sellers.
  2. Improved Customer Experience: Buyers receive the product in its original branded packaging, which enhances brand recognition and provides a more premium unboxing experience.
  3. Eco-Friendly Shipping: By eliminating excess packaging, SIPP helps reduce waste, supporting Amazon’s sustainability efforts and lowering carbon footprints.

Is SIPP Right for Your Products?

SIPP is not suitable for all product types. It’s best for items already designed to withstand shipping without extra protection. Sellers with fragile items, liquid-based products, or sharp components may need additional packaging modifications or testing before qualifying for the program.

If you’re unsure whether your product can withstand shipping without extra packaging, Amazon provides testing guidelines to help determine eligibility.

How to Enroll in SIPP

To check eligibility and enroll:

  1. Access the Enrollment Page: Go to SellerCentral.Amazon.com/SSIP-enrollment or search for “SIPP” in Seller Central.
  2. Check Eligible ASINs: View the list of products that qualify for SIPP.
  3. Select an ASIN and Edit Product Group: Choose the product and follow the enrollment steps.
  4. Upload Required Photos
  • Amazon requires five images to confirm product packaging:
  • Front & sides of packaging
  • Back & remaining sides
  • Product inside its packaging
  • Packaging after a durability test
  • Final packed product ready for shipment
  1. Confirm Packaging Type & Complete Enrollment
  • Select whether your product ships in a rigid box or flexible polybag.
  • Choose a date for the first arrival of your product using this packaging.

Final Thoughts: Is SIPP Worth It?

For sellers whose packaging already meets Amazon’s requirements, SIPP is a win-win—it lowers fulfillment fees, enhances branding, and supports sustainability. If you’re already shipping durable packaging, this program can lead to significant cost savings while improving the customer experience.
